We have employed Fox Refrigeration for several decades to keep our ice rink working successfully during the winter curling season, and they have planned and executed two successful heat-recovery projects for us, helping make our superb hotel more energy efficient. As the curling rink equipment got older the repair bills were escalating so Fox's suggested upgrading the plant to get rid of several of the obsolete items and replace them with new, efficient and cheaper to run machinery, and this was successfully carried out by them in late summer 2009.
The much-improved plant operated very well during the 2009 - 10 curling season, with minimal problems and lower overall operating costs.
As the dead-line for R22 phase-out approached we employed Fox Refrigeration to organise and compete the works to replace the refrigerant for an ozone friendly substitute, and this work was completed and the plant was ready for the 2012-13 season, which was entirely successful.

Until very recently Marine Ices produced approximately 2,250 litres of ice cream per day from our facility on the premises in Haverstock Hill, London. We have been using Fox Refrigerations' services since 1996, since when they have installed new ammonia and Freon equipment and gave excellent service to all our refrigeration requirements. On many occasions, they attended call outs for breakdowns and always assisted quickly, efficiently and politely. This enabled Marine Ices to continue freezing and blast freezing ice cream to -46 C, storing at -18 C and extruding ice cream at -5C with the minimum of downtime.
Fox's engineers have a very deep knowledge of all refrigeration , and the ability to project manage all aspects of refrigeration plant. In addition their fault finding skills are excellent.
Therefore for advice, repairs and maintenance, I would have no hesitation in recommending Fox Refrigeration for all refrigeration engineering , especially as he strictly adheres to Health and Safety and refrigeration regulations.
When in-house production ceased in May 2012 Fox's undertook to de-commission all the ammonia and Freon equipment in a straight-forward, safe and cost-effective manner.
Fox Refrigeration have maintained our 2 mega-Watt ammonia / glycol refrigeration system since 1993, and have carried out many improvements over the years to improve reliability and raise efficiency.
We recently commissioned Fox to upgrade the complete control system and this was carried out with minimal down-time or disruption to our manufacturing schedule, they demonstrated a real understanding of the need for us to meet customers requirements, a real bonus for us all. The new control system, which they designed along-side our own technical staff, has resulted in significant and measurable improvements in operational efficiency and far fewer system and plant break-downs, 'trips', and failures.
Fox Refrigeration were also recently employed to supply and install a replacement evaporative condenser, and this work was completed to the full satisfaction of our stringent Health and Safety and engineering requirements in the shortest of timescale, so thank you all for that.
We have relied on Fox engineers to look after the ammonia plant for many years now, historically they have dealt with any calls at any time of day promptly – professionally – and efficiently. I cannot imagine a more dedicated and responsible team of Engineers to entrust on our refrigeration system. As such my intention is to secure our working relationship for the foreseeable future.
DHL's massive chilled warehouse at West Thurrock was constructed in the early part of the 1990's, but the original design of the R22 refrigeration plant (NOT done by Fox) was unsatisfactory. A few years after the installation Fox Refrigeration were invited to inspect the plant with a view to making system improvements. They suggested some very positive up-grades which have considerably reduced the maintenance and running costs, and have saved us a small fortune over the decades.
In the mid 1990's Fox Refrigeration designed and installed a very reliable pumped ammonia 'fridge system to serve one of the chambers, and they designed and built the necessary control panel suite in-house. The whole project has been a total unreserved success. Of course there have been plant failures, but Fox have always been just a 'phone call away and have supported us very consistently.
In summary Fox Refrigeration has provided us with all the help and professionalism as expected of our contractors over the years, they have not let us down in the past and we are happy to continue with their services for many years to come.
